The story

I’de like you all to meet “YumYum Lude” also known as “Ghost on Boost” .. my 1993 Honda Prelude Si-VTEC. I am the fourth owner of the car and I bought it in 2005 when I was 20. The car started its life in California and then migrated to the New-England area. Its original exterior color was Black and the trim was called Si-VTEC. The car was registered in four different states here in the US thus far (California, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts).

When I got my hands on it I could tell that it has been beat to death by the previous owners, but only had 93,000 original miles. Originally equipped with the H22a1 motor, I fell in love at first sight. This car was an upgrade to my previous ’99 Eclipse GS. The Prelude had this ugly body-kit, messed up body, scratched-up paint, 4x4 stance, dark black oil, and a messed up carfax. But I wanted it so bad so I looked past all of that. Bought it. I quickly swapped over to stock bumpers, skirts, oil changed, and paint was touched-up, and car was lowered. In this car was the first time I experienced VTEC, and it felt great.

Five years later under my ownership it looks like the pictures you see below. This car went through hell and back, was daily driven up until last year when I bought a beater Accord to drive in the winter. Blood, sweat, and tears made the final result you see in front of you – all worth the trouble. All labor was always done by me, solo, and I take great pride in that, except the paint (I went to a professional paint company to get some bodywork and paint done.) With no previous experience, all that I learned about cars and how to work on them was through this car, and because of this I will never forget it.

Turbo idea came to mind in 2008, I researched, read the FI forums, and bought all the parts individually, looked past the cheaper low quality parts and bought the more expensive higher quality parts the first-time around. Bought all the tools needed (including engine hoist, engine stand, welder, and welding supplies). All the work was done in my driveway, no garage was available, which meant when the sun goes down the work had to stop.

H23vtec motor hybrid was done over the winter (’09-‘10) while car was parked, first start-up was March 2010, still NA. Driven for about 800 miles for break-in and proper seating of piston rings, and then swapped to turbo and driven to tuner on basemap.

Success is 99% failure.
Many people dream of success. To me success can be achieved only through repeated failure and introspection. In fact, success represents 1 percent of your work which results only from the 99 percent that is called failure.
